Stocktakes Online — Barcode Datalink
Compatibility  /  Printable check

Print one page. Take it to the scanner.

The barcode below is an ordinary one — lines, not squares — because this sheet exists to test old scanners, and a laser scanner cannot read a QR code at all. Every Zebra ever made reads this one.

Will this scanner work with Stocktakes Online?

Two minutes, and nothing is installed on the device.

Barcode holding the address app.stocktakesonline.com.au

app.stocktakesonline.com.au

  1. Open the browser on the scanner. Chrome, or whatever browser it came with. Nothing to download.
  2. Tap the address bar, so the cursor is sitting in it. A scan is typed into whatever has focus, and this only works if that is the address bar.
  3. Pull the trigger at this barcode. The address types itself in, and the Enter that follows a scan loads the page. If your scanner does not send an Enter, press it yourself.
  4. Look at what comes up. That is the whole test.
The sign-in page appears

The app will run on this scanner. You do not need an account to have proved it — loading the page is the part that fails on a device too old.

An error, or nothing loads

The app would install and then refuse to sign in. Nothing we can send you fixes that, so it is worth knowing before a stocktake, not during one.

Why it can fail: the difficulty on an older scanner is not the app. It is whether the device still recognises the security certificate the portal uses, from a list built into it when it was made and never updated since. The browser checks exactly that, which is why this test needs no download.

Stuck, or it will not load? Ring 0414 53 53 95 with the model and we will tell you where you stand.  ·  Barcode Datalink · Berowra NSW · www.stocktakesonline.com.au
